DOUBLE German course
Students taking our DOUBLE language courses may have a wide range of nationalities, but they all share your interest in the German language! The weekly 24 tuition hours which constitute the DOUBLE course are divided across five days (Monday to Friday) and between two different small groups with a maximum of ten participants.

Our German language DOUBLE course is designed for students with a fairly large amount of time. You will join two different small groups: one meets daily in the mornings and comprises an international mix of students; the other meets two evenings per week and comprises of students resident in Berlin. Being a member of two different groups results in a fair degree of variation for you as a learner as well as giving you more of a view of daily life in Germany.
Scope and content:
The core of our classes is the four main language skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening), which are the focus of the work you will do with your small group in your four morning tuition hours. The first two lessons deal mainly with grammar topics and expanding your theoretical knowledge base, the second set of two lessons then switches to the practical application of what you have learned.
Additionally, you have two evening sessions of two tuition hours per week in which you will further develop your German language skills with a different group of fellow students. The main topics here are themes related to everyday life in Germany, thereby establishing the framework for communicative and interesting tuition.
In order to prevent you becoming too fixated on one teacher and one teaching style, as well as increasing the amount and variety of German language you encounter during your time at IH Berlin PROLOG, we offer our classes with a team-teaching format.
This means that you are taught by at least two teachers each week: giving you more motivation, different ways of expressing yourself and different perspectives on the topics and themes you will cover during your lessons. Team-teaching also means that we can cater better to your individual needs as two teachers work together to support and assist you in your learning.

Schedule:
With our DOUBLE language course you will join your small group from 10:00-13:15 each day. After the first two tuition hours (90 minutes) there is a fifteen-minute break which you can use to mingle with students from other groups and add to the practise you get during your lessons.
The second component of this German language course is the evening small group which meets twice a week between 18:00 and 19:30 or from 19:45 and 21:15. Depending upon your personal timetable and possible seasonal variations, it is possible to alter this schedule.
Language requirements:
No previous knowledge of German is required to join the DOUBLE course. Beginners can start their courses on the first Monday of each month. If you already have some knowledge of the German language you can start your course on any Monday. Once you have taken our placement test, we will be able to select the best group for your language abilities and schedule. Our groups are set up according to the levels described in the • Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
