Kleines Deutsches Sprachdiplom (KDS)
Minor German Language Diploma
In terms of language ability, this exam corresponds to the ZOP, but it also shows that you have developed an appreciation of the cultural geography of the German-speaking countries.
The Kleine Deutsche Sprachdiplom also shows that you can confidently and competently use standard German. Between 1200 and 1400 hours of tuition are required to reach this level. At his level you can understand demanding articles and authentic, literary texts, and communicate proficiently both orally and in writing.
The Goethe Institute has been offering both the Kleine and the Große Deutsche Sprachdiplom on behalf of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich since 1962. The exam is set by the Goethe Institute in collaboration with the university.
