Goethe Zertifikat C2 (ZOP)
Advanced level examination
An alternative to both the DSH and the TestDAF is the Goethe Zertifikat C2 (formerly Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung - ZOP), although this exam is more difficult.
With this qualification you can prove that your understanding of standard German enables you to understand complex texts, to appreciate the finer points of the language, and to express yourself deftly both orally and in writing. You will probably need to have had between 1200 hours of tuition to reach this level.
In professional life the ZOP is valued as concrete proof of your proficient mastery of the German language. It is only possible to take the Goethe Zertifikat C2 through the Goethe Institute.
