Learn Danish in Berlin
The success of an Danish course is almost always determined by the competence and involvement of the instructor. That's why IH Berlin PROLOG only employs native Danish speakers with many years of classroom experience in adult education.

Danish - a short overview
Danish (in Danish dansk [sprog]) belongs to the Germanic languages in the Scandinavian group. It is the official language in Denmark and the second official language in Greenland (the first being Greenlandic) and on the Faroe Islands (the first being Faroese, mostly in the variety Gøtudanskt) and it is a common language on Iceland (as it was a former colonial language).
It is also a minority language in Schleswig-Holstein (Danish: Slesvig-Holsten) and has special protection under the state constitution. Danish has disappeared in the former Danish West Indies in the 20th century.
In Denmark, Danish is spoken by about five million native speakers. Another 330,000 native speakers are found, especially in Germany (primarily in south Schleswig which was governed by Denmark until 1864), the centre of which is Flensburg (Danish: Flensborg) with about 20,000 speakers. Danish is also spoken in Greenland and the Faroe Islands (both politically associated with Denmark), but also in Canada, Norway, Sweden and the USA.
Although its vocabulary is strongly influenced by Low German, the linguistic divide to the German dialects is not gentle, but rather hard in a linguistic sense. This boundary was historically on the Eider River. However, ever since the High Middle Ages, German has wandered ever farther north of Eider. Today, the German-Danish border is also the language boundary.
