Teacher Training
The International House Certificate (IHC) in Teaching German for initial and further teacher training has been on offer since 2005.
International House World Organisation began by developing training courses for teachers of English as a foreign language and has gone on to broaden its training courses to teachers of other languages. This has led to the development of the IH Certificate (IHC) for foreign languages, the equivalent of the CELTA (Certificate in English Language Training to Adults) for English language teachers.
Graduates of IH teacher training courses are much sought after and regarded throughout the world as competent and sound teachers. International House trainers have been involved in the production of a wide range of teaching and school books and have published a varied spectrum of books and articles in trade magazines concerning the teaching of foreign languages.
The content of the four-week teacher training covers everything from the communication of theoretical fundamentals to the analysis of language structures, from the development of methodical skills and class management techniques to the planning and delivery of lessons.
The question of how people learn a language is investigated, as is the teacher's own presence in the classroom and the choice of the most appropriate teaching material. The IH Zertifikat DaF is also designed for teachers already working in the field of teaching German as a foreign language, and is worthwhile as a further development course.

What is EUROLTA?
And now, with the EUROLTA Certificate we are making it possible for teachers of all foreign languages to gain an internationally recognised and accredited qualification as teachers of languages to adults.
EUROLTA (European Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults) is a qualification for teachers and prospective teachers of languages to adults, recognised internationally by the ICC (International Certificate Conference) / International Language Network and many other organisations. It guarantees that the holder of the qualification has acquired a high level of proficiency in the teaching of languages to adults.
